Cunning Milon
In “Old Milon,” by Guy De Maupassant, a man named Milon is cunning, smart, and intelligent. He is cunning because during the first murder he snuck behind a cavalryman and killed him in a surprise attack. Milon took his uniform and disguised himself as a German solider. This was a good idea because he did not want anyone to hear what was going on. The next couple of murders, Old Milon is dressed and acts like a German soldier. He knows some German and he knows what village the Germans are at. When Old Milon screamed, “Hilfe, hilfe,” the Germans knew something was wrong with this disguised German solider. When the German came over, Milon killed him. He does this to catch the Germans off guard and that shows him being cunning. He does this to the next two Germans he comes in contact with. During the trial, Milon admits to killing all the soldiers for revenge. The Germans killed his father and his son. This is cunning because he dies for revenge and now the killing for each side is even according to Milon. In all, Old Milon showed that he could be cunning, smart, and intelligent when he kills someone.
